Shannon Johnson is the number-one seed in the USGA Women's Mid-Amateur 

Championship in Erie, Pennsylvania. The 33-year old Sioux Falls native shot a 36-hole score of 145 (72-73) to earn the top seed.

Johnson won her first match in the round of 64, defeating Staci Creech of Bangor, Maine, 5&3. She will face (#32) Katrin Wolfe at 8:00 am on Tuesday, September 13.

The round of 16 will also take place on Tuesday. Quarterfinals and semifinals begin on Wednesday, with the final match on Thursday.

Johnson, now of Foxborough, Massachusetts, attended O'Gorman High School before competing as a decorated student-athlete at the University of New Mexico and Indiana University. She has won 12 SDGA Championships.
